If you’re looking for a great way to share projects with your team or clients, Davinci Resolve Presentations is an excellent platform to consider. One of the features I particularly appreciate is the integration with Davinci Resolve Timelines, which makes it easy to create markers and comments.
This new tool is available with Davinci Resolve 18.5 Beta.
Resolve User on Browser:
By setting up a Blackmagic Cloud account, you can create a Presentation Session and invite clients by entering their email addresses. Blackmagic will send an email to your clients with instructions on how to access the presentation. You can share the presentation with up to ten people at once. You can even enable your camera and microphone and do a live session with your client!
Resolve User on Project:
As a Resolve user, you can go to the deliver page and render the latest version of your file, which will automatically appear in your presentation session. The render follows the “Record Timecode” to keep everything in sync.
Client on Browser:
Clients can review, comment, add markers, and even participate in live sessions with the Resolve user.
My Notes
Since you render a file and share it with your client, you should not change anything in your edit. Markers and comments follow the “Record Timecode” corresponding with your render file. If you trim something, your client’s comments will appear in a different place. You can’t change the position of the markers and comments in your edit, so it will be confusing.
When editing in live sessions, you should use the ripple delete to markers and comments following your actions on timecode.
Users can delete clients’ comments in the timeline. If you do that, you will delete the comments from the client, and they won’t be available anymore. This can lead to a lot of confusion and frustration, so it’s important to be careful.
Customers need to trust the platform and access their comments every time they log in. Therefore, in my opinion, the user should not be able to delete the comments on the platform for the client. The user can only hide or bypass the markers and comments from the client in the project, not delete in the platform.
Blackmagic is surely working on these small details and will surely bring great things to this platform! Many congratulations for this great idea!
